Freitas Named NY-Penn League Player of the Week

The hits just keep on coming for Vermont's David Freitas. In the midst of his franchise record 21-game hit streak he goes on to collect his first New York-Penn League Player of the Week honor. For the week of July 19-25 Freitas played in 6 games and collected 8 hits in 20 bats for a .400 batting average. He picked up 2 doubles, 2 home runs, 5 RBI and a stolen base along the way. His hit streak is obviously the big story, but his big week certainly deserves the acclaim as well. Congratulations to David Freitas on picking up this honor and here's hoping he picks up some more hits towards the streak. He will look to extended his hitting streak to 22 tonight when the Lake Monsters face off against the Tri-City ValleyCats at historic Centennial Field.
