"Hitting is timing. Pitching is upsetting timing." - Warren Spahn

The Portland Sea Dogs were the only team completely washed out by the weather yesterday, forcing them into a doubleheader today against Trenton. That should go off without a hitch as temps are expected to hit the mid-40s with no rain in sight.

The New Hampshire Fisher Cats endured a 40 minute delay before starting their game yesterday. It didn't slow down either team's bats as 21 runs were scored on 22 hits. The highlight of the day was a 10 run, 4th inning assault by the Fisher Cats; a franchise record for most runs in one inning. New Hampshire got RBIs from seven batters on their way to a 13-8 victory; their first home win of the season.

Pawtucket helped the Rochester Red Wings open up their home ballpark for the season, and the Red Wings were thankful for that as they took out the PawSox 6-5. The Red Wings put up three runs on Fabio Castro in the first two innings, but the Sox chipped back to pull within a run. After Rochester went up 5-2, the PawSox again came back, tying things up in the top of the eighth on an Aaron Bates double. Rochester struck right back in the bottom of the eighth and that was enough to seal the deal. Pawtucket has now dropped their last 4 games.

Again we save our friends the Rock Cats for last, because I feel it adds to the suspense. New Britain did it again and they have now, officially, put together a winning streak. The 5-3 win over Harrisburg made it two in a row for the Rock Cats. After an early 2-0 Senators lead, the Cats scratched back in the fifth to the tune of four runs and it was smooth sailing from there.
