Game of the DayBaysox vs. Fisher Cats – While Portland has owned the month of June, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats would like to reset the month if they could. Following a franchise record number of a wins in a month in May (23), the Cats have gone 1-5 since June kicked off and now find themselves only a ½ game up on second place Trenton. Tonight Joel Carreno looks to help stop the bleeding after going 4-0 in May. Carreno has not lost since April 30th, but got a bit roughed up in his last outing against Harrisburg when he allowed 4 runs and 6 hits in 5 innings. He did still manage to strikeout 9 batters in that game, giving him 73 on the season, good enough for third most in the E.L. He will be opposed by lefty Richard Zagone tonight, a sixth round pick by the Orioles in 2008. Zagone only has one win on the season and that came back on April 21st, but in his last five starts he has managed to hold opponents to only 10 runs over 28 innings. The Fisher Cats can’t choose to be picky tonight as Zagone has only allowed 10 free passes in his 42 1/3 innings. But the Cats do desperately need to right the ship, before June gets away from them and quite possibly the division.

Side note prediction (7-16) – I’m liking Andrew Miller lately, so I predict a Paw Sox victory tonight.
