Game of the Day – Sea Dogs vs. Fisher Cats – It’s a battle of the Eastern League’s best and worst teams today in Manchester as the Fisher Cats look to sweep their three game set against the Sea Dogs. New Hampshire is already 7-2 against Portland this season and today is the 10th of 26 meetings between the two teams. New Hampshire has won four straight games, are 8-2 over their last ten games and have built a four game lead over second place Trenton. Joel Carreno starts his 14th game of the season for the Cats today. Over his last three starts he has allowed only 3 earned runs and struck out 23 batters in 17 2/3 innings of work. Carreno has one start this season against the Portland back on May 6th when he one hit the Dogs over 7 innings. Portland has dropped three in a row to sink to the bottom of the Eastern Division with a league worst 25-46 record, 19 ½ games behind the Fisher Cats. Brock Huntzinger looks to halt the brooms from coming out for the fourth time this season. Huntzinger had a season-high nine strikeouts against a potent Trenton lineup in his last outing on Tuesday and is 2-1 with a 3.54 ERA in the month of June. New Hampshire heads to Trenton for three games against the second place Thunder after today. Portland heads back to Hadlock Field for an eight game homestand against New Britain and New Hampshire.
