Game of the DayBats vs. PawSox – Pawtucket, losers of five of their last seven games, still sit two games behind Lehigh Valley thanks to an Iron Pigs four game losing streak. Meanwhile, however, they have allowed Louisville to tighten the Wild Card race, where the PawSox find themselves a half game behind Gwinnett. Edinson Volquez gets his seventh start for the Bats, and his fifth since being demoted by the Reds at the beginning of July. He has tossed six or more innings in each of those starts, including six scoreless frames against Rochester in his last outing on Wednesday. Kyle Weiland gets his second start for the PawSox since returning from his big league stint. Weiland failed to find his command in his last start against Lehigh Valley, allowing 3 earned runs, while allowing only 2 hit but 5 free passes. Tonight's start will be Weiland’s first at McCoy since June 29th…Jed Lowrie will begin a rehab stint with Pawtucket tonight and should be with the team until at least the weekend. Lowrie has been on the DL since June 17th with a strained left shoulder…The Louisville pitching staff has only allowed 85 home runs, tied for second lowest in the league…The PawSox had a 17-13 record in July. They started the month in second place, 2 ½ games back and finished the month in second, 2 games back…The season series between these two teams is tied at 3 wins apiece with the season series concluding tomorrow at 12:05pm.
