Game of the DayFisher Cats vs. Baysox – The Fisher Cats completed their sweep of the Flying Squirrels and move on to face a tough Bowie squad for three. New Hampshire has won four of their last five games and they seem to have righted the ship after a rocky July. Henderson Alvarez gets his fourteenth start of the season for the Cats. Over his last five games (which includes a 2 inning relief appearance) he is 3-0 with a 2.12 ERA and 24 strikeouts. Recent grumblings in the Twitterverse spoke of Alvarez possibly getting a call up to the big club in Toronto and although he has looked ridiculous this season, the 21-year-old could certainly benefit from a little extra seasoning in the Minors before making the leap. He will be opposed by Rich Zagone who is looking to rebound from a tough outing his last time out when he allowed 6 earned runs in 4 1/3 innings versus New Britain. He did pick up a victory against New Hampshire back on June 8th, going 5 1/3, scattering 9 hits and allowing only 2 earned runs. Zagone has allowed one home run in each of his last four starts and has given 15 bombs overall this season…Bowie (61-50) dropped to second place after losing two of three from Portland. They are a ½ game back of Harrisburg in the Western Division and are one game up on third place Richmond. New Hampshire (62-49) holds a four game lead over second place Reading in the Eastern Division and they currently have the best record in the Eastern League by a ½ game over Harrisburg…The Fisher Cats are 1-2 against Bowie this year and 28-29 lifetime against the Baysox.
