Game of the Day – Sea Dogs vs. Baysox – The Sea Dogs will have two chances to kick off August on the right foot after a strong July in which the team went 17-13, their best month of the season. With the departure of Stephen Fife and his 11 wins, game one starter Alex Wilson now takes over the Sea Dogs lead with 8. Over his last 10 starts Wilson is 4-1 with a 2.51 ERA and his 2.87 season ERA is fourth best in the Eastern League. Michael Lee starts for Portland in game two, looking for his first win since April 26th. Bowie, currently one game back in the Western Division, puts Mike Ballard on the hill in game one, but they’ve yet to announce their game two starter. Ballard is 6-1 in 9 starts since being demoted from Triple-A Norfolk at the beginning of June. One of Ballard’s wins came against Portland back on June 12th, but he was knocked around for 7 earned runs and 7 hits in that outing. …The Sea Dogs are 0-2 against Bowie this season with a rainout…Portland’s team batting average of .274 is tied with Reading for best in the league…The Baysox lead the league with 126 total stolen bases and they have been cut down only 44 times on the paths. Second baseman Greg Miclat is 36 for 37 on stolen base attempts.
