Game of the Day - Staten Island vs. Tigers - The Tigers could not grapple their way to a victory during Wrestling Night on Thursday, but maybe they can provide the sparks tonight for Fireworks Friday at Dodd Stadium instead. Connecticut has gone a game under .500 after dropping four straight games and they have dropped to third place in the Stedler Division. They welcome in the Staten Island Yankees for three games and Clemente Mendoza will be the first pitcher out of the gate who is tasked with trying to stop the bleeding. Mendoza has won his last two starts and he has gone 6 or more innings in his last 4 starts. However, he did lose to Staten Island back on July 29th. Kramer Sneed gets the nod for the Lil' Yanks. He is coming off his worst outing of the season when he allowed 7 earned runs in 4 innings of work against Tri-City. Sneed saw some action out of the pen against Connecticut back on July 30th, going 3 1/3 innings, allowing only 1 earned run. The Tigers are still only 2 games back of first place Vermont and it would be a good idea for them to step up right now, against another sub .500 team, to show that they are capable of making a run for the playoffs down the the stretch.
