Game of the Day - Spinners @ Tri-City - In the seventh round of the 2009 draft the Boston Red Sox picked pitcher Madison Younginer out of Mauldin High School in South Carolina. He got his first taste of pro-ball this season with Lowell and came out firing, allowing no runs and only one hit in his first start where he picked up the "W". Since then things have been rough for the kid as he has compiled a 1-5 record over his last six starts. His ERA is over 7.00 and he hasn't shown too much of a pulse since his start back on July 4th. One thing we must remember is that the kid is only 19 years old and he has great potential. One website (Soxprospects.com) compares his stuff to that of a Kerry Wood and states that, "he has the potential to be a front line starter." That in-itself is enough to get excited each time the 6'4" youngster hits the hill with his high-90s heat and a 12-to-6 curve that has a nice, deep break to it. Younginer will get his first look at Tri-City tonight as he faces off against Andrew Robinson who is making his first ever professional start.
