Ernie will get his wish today in Pawtucket as the Red Sox and Red Wings make up for last night's rain out with a single admission double header starting at 1:05pm. That's two games for the price of one, and Dice-K is starting the first game!
The Fisher Cats and Rock Cats were also rained out yesterday, but have not announced a make up date.
In a game that was actually played last night, the Portland Sea Dogs and Reading Phillies battled back-and-forth all evening before Reading took the lead for good in the bottom of the eighth. The final score was 7-5 with Mike Stutes picking up the victory after blowing a save opportunity in the top half of the eighth. Sea Dog reliever Bryson Cox was strapped with the loss.

Gotta take Daisuke's start as a pretty good sign, though I'm curious to see how the rotation for the big club will play out this year and next. While they say you can never have too much pitching, I'm willing to bet there are a couple of folks on the team who might argue otherwise. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out.
ReplyDeleteAlso, good job with this blog! I really enjoy reading it - incredibly informative and up-to-date!
Yeah the Sox are going to have some decisions to make with a few pitchers. Dice-K obviously comes up and goes back into the rotation, there probably isn't much of an argument there, especially after yesterday. It's a matter of whose place does he take and when does it happen.
ReplyDeleteAlan Embree has seen some action in a couple of games now and he has a clause where he can seek out other teams if he's not brough up by April 15th, so they have a decision to make there. He should get a ton of action with Pawtucket until then to see if it's worthwhile to hold on to him.
Boof Bonser is another guy who is in Pawtucket to "rehab". He was never really slated to start in Boston but he could certainly be valuable as a middle man out of the bullpen, especially if someone falters early.
Thanks for checking in Ant and for the kind words. 'Preciate it!
