Hitting the Links

Recently our friends over at Bus Leagues Baseball sat down with New Hampshire Fisher Cats hurler Zack Stewart. The Baseball America preseason #1 prospect for the Blue Jays was very candid in the interview and provides great insight into the mindset of a highly touted pitcher toiling in the minors. Stewart has certainly caught fire (6-1, 2.28 since June 1st) after his slow start and he is destined for great things down the road, but in the meantime he takes advantage of every opportunity he gets when he hits the hill. But don't take it from me, let him tell you. Bus Leagues Baseball

Speaking of Baseball America and Zack Stewart, this weeks Prospect Hot Sheet features the Fisher Cat. Another hot cat is also featured as New Britain's Kyle Gibson hits the list at number 5! The pitching prospects that we have in the region is second-to-none at this point and they deserve all of the hype they get. Prospect Hot Sheet

The promotion of Ryan Kalish from AAA Pawtucket to the big club in Boston was a big moment for him and anyone who has followed his career. Recently PawSox broadcaster Dan Hoard caught up with Lars Anderson (Kalish's best friend and someone who knows a little bit about Kalish's path to the bigs) for his thoughts on seeing his compadre make the jump to the show. The MiLB.com Minors Moniker Madness rolls on to round 3 and we still have some players in the game around here. New Hampshire Fisher Cats reliever Bubbie Buzachero took down #1 seed Al Albuquerque in the Razor Shines bracket. Now #8 Buzachero takes on #5 Tuffie Gosewich and if he can beat Al Al, he can definitely beat Tuffie! In the Natty Nattress bracket, #16 seed Seth "The Hammer" Schwindenhammer rolls on after taking down 10th seed Petey Paramore. Now he battles 14th seed Beamer Weems in a matchup of upset specialists. Please continue to vote for our local names of note. Minors Moniker Madness
