Game of the Day - Tigers @ Jamestown - After Connecticut's brief foray into the the world of first place in the Stedler Division, they proceeded to drop three of four and slipped back into second. They are firmly entrenched in their divisional battle, but it's also a good idea to stay close in the Wild Card race as well. Currently they sit 3 1/2 game behind the Jamestown Jammes in that endeavor, so tonight's game will set the tone regarding the Tigers different paths into the postseason. The three game set kicks off at 7:05pm tonight with Rayni Guichardo looking to stay on point from the bump. Over his last three games he has allowed only 2 earned runs over 16 innings of work. The Jammers counter with Rett Verner who has been remarkable to date, owning a 1.29 ERA and a 2-1 record. Back on July 26th, Verner tossed 5 innings of no hit ball against the Auburn Doubledays before being pulled. Tonight's series opener could be another pitcher's duel if both of these strong pitchers stay true to form.
