Game of the Day – Curve vs. Fisher Cats – After a 1-6 start to the month of June, New Hampshire has rebounded nicely, going 7-4 over their last eleven and building a 2 1/2 game cushion over second place Trenton. Tonight Altoona tries to throw a wrench into that momentum with Kyle McPherson getting the starting nod. McPherson is getting his third AA start after his promotion from Class-A Bradenton. In his prior two starts for the Curve he has allowed four earned runs in 11 2/3 innings of work, walking only one and striking out eight. Big Chad Jenkins, whose season mirrors McPherson’s in many ways, hits the hill tonight for the Fisher Cats. In both of his starts since being called up from Class-A Dunedin, Jenkins has worked 7 full innings. In his last outing versus Akron, he let up two home runs, four earned runs and five hits, but still managed to pick up the win. On the offensive end of the spectrum, Fisher Cats’ DH Ricardo Nanita has had seven multi-hit games over his last ten for a .432 batting average and has gone 4-4 on stolen base attempts over that span.
