Game of the DayChiefs vs. PawSox - We honor the 30th anniversary of “The Longest Game Ever” by putting the PawSox in our GotD. Currently Pawtucket is 6-5 on the year, one game behind first place Lehigh Valley in the North Division of the International League. Syracuse is a half game behind them, sitting at .500 with a 5-5 record. The PawSox are in the midst of a three game win streak, but they dropped 2 of 3 in Syracuse last week. Matt Fox gets his third start of the season for Pawtucket and hopes to make up for a rough one last time out. Last Thursday Fox lasted only 2 innings versus Syracuse, allowing 6 hits and 4 earned runs while picking up the “L.” He’ll be opposed by J.D. Martin, who is making his first start of the year after 2 strong appearances out of the pen where he allowed no earned runs over 5 innings of work. However, Martin has not seen any action since the 11th, so the PawSox would do best to attack the rusty spots early and often. The Sox hope to keep their potent offense rolling after putting up a 10 spot on Buffalo yesterday, and a rusty pitcher in his first start might help them do just that.
