7:05pm

vs. Richmond Flying Squirrels (Daryl Maday 10-12, 4.62)

Rochester Red Wings (Anthony Swarzak 5-12, 6.21)
vs. Pawtucket Red Sox (Alfredo Aceves 0-0, 6.17)

Game of the Day: Red Wings @ PawSox – If Alfredo Aceves can show some life early on here with the PawSox, then just maybe he could become the new “Ace” for the big club the way things are going. Sure that me be a bit of a stretch, but Aceves is out to prove that he belongs in the majors and Boston certainly needs some help, so it’s imperetive that the Aceman gets off to a hot start. Rochester starter Anthony Swarzak starts his sixth professional baseball season in Rochester for the third straight time and starts the season in the exact same spot as last year as Rochester’s starting pitcher in Pawtucket. Last year Swarzak only made it 3 innings in the opener, allowing 5 earned runs, and getting tagged with the loss. He’s obviously hoping for a better start this season and maybe that can help him gain the momentum needed to get out finally get out of AAA. As mentioned, this is a rematch of last year’s opener in which one Mr. Darnell McDonald played the hero for the PawSox. Shortly after that DMac was called up to the big club due to injuries and he hasn’t really sniffed the minors since! Who will be this year’s DMac?
