vs. New Hampshire Fisher Cats (B.J. LaMura 1-0, 0.82)
Game of the Day – BMets vs. Fisher Cats – We have the recipe for a pitcher’s duel in this one as the Fisher Cats return to NeDDS for a 7 game home stand tonight against Binghamton. Although he is winless after his first two starts, BMets pitcher Brad Holt has been spectacular this year, allowing 0 earned runs and only 7 hits in 12 innings of work. He shut down the Fisher Cats lineup last Friday, going 7 strong, striking out 5 and allowing only 4 hits and a walk. Cats starts B.J. LaMura has been equally as good so far this year, going only one less inning and allowing only one more earned run than Holt. LaMura has whiffed 12 batters over his 11 innings of work, 4 of which were Mets hitters last Thursday in Binghamton. Neither pitcher got a decision in either of those matchups. The BMets come into tonight’s game riding a 3 game win streak after a Red Sox-esque start to the season that had them sitting at 2-6. Now has them one game back of .500 at 5-6. The Fisher Cats won their last two games versus New Britain, which pulled them into a tie for second place in the EL’s Eastern Division with a 7-5 record. Tonight son team's streak will be halted as two pitcher’s off to hot starts face off against each other and against two of the more dormant sets of bats currently going in the Eastern League.
