Game of the DaySpinners vs. Crosscutters – The New York Penn League’s Stedler Division is once again a tight four team race, despite some sub .500 records, with all teams within 4 ½ games of the top. But if anyone in that division is complaining, no one in the Pinckney Division is listening, as three teams are tied for first, including Mahoning Valley, and two more teams are 1 game back of that logjam. The Spinners sit in second place in the Stedler, two games back of first place Vermont. Luis Diaz gets the start for Lowell in the rubber match against the Scrappers. Diaz is 3-0 over his last six starts and has only allowed 7 runs over his last 31 1/3 innings. Diaz allowed his first two home runs of the season in his last outing against the Auburn Doubledays. He will be opposed tonight by Joseph Colon who has picked up his three wins over his last four starts. Colon has allowed only 5 runs over his last 22 innings of work and has yet to allow a long ball this season…The Lowell Spinners have the fewest saves, 5, in the NYPL and their pitchers have allowed the most walks with 173…Mahoning Valley is second in the league with 74 doubles and as a team they have the fewest strikeouts offensively with 244…The Spinners go to State College for three games after tonight; the Scrappers head to Auburn for three.
