Game of the Day – Senators vs. Rock Cats – The Rock Cats closed out June in the midst of a three-game losing streak, giving them a record of 12-14 on the month, their worst of the season. Yet they remain 3 1/2 games out first place in the Eastern Division. Harrisburg enters the night firmly planted atop the Western Division, 4 games ahead of the Richmond Flying Squirrels. Sens’ starter Shairon Martis brings some solid numbers to the hill in his 12th start of the season tonight. The 2008 Futures Game selection has 61 Ks in 61 innings of work this season, has only walked 18 batters and has yet to hit anyone with a pitch (most IPs in the Eastern League without an HB). Cuban defector Deinys Suarez gets his fifth pro start for the Rock Cats, his fourth at New Britain Stadium. Suarez has gone 6+ innings over his last three starts, but got tuned up in his last outing against Trenton when he allowed 8 hits and 3 walks which lead to 5 earned runs. The 27-year old righty will look to get back on track tonight against a lineup that features three E.L. All-Stars. The Cats were expecting a rehabbing Jason Kubel to boost their lineup tonight, and through the weekend, but he has been pushed back at least one day to a foot injury he suffered while rehabbing in Fort Myers.
