Game of the DayFisher Cats vs. Sea Dogs – It’s an old-fashioned, red, white & blue battle going on at Hadlock Field this evening as the Fisher Cats and Sea Dogs play the rubber match of their three game series. Today will be Zach Stewart’s first start since returning from big-league life where he got three starts for the Toronto Blue Jays (0-1, 4.86 ERA). Stew last pitched for the Fisher Cats back on June 9th against Bowie where he picked up the “W” after pitching 6 solid innings, allowing 1 earned run on 5 hits while striking out 6. His last outing against the Sea Dogs came back on May 23rd at Hadlock and he was roughed up pretty badly, allowing 7 earned runs and 8 hits over 4 innings. Today will be Alex Wilson’s first start since being named an Eastern League All-Star (Stewart was also named an E.L. All-Star after returning to the Cats). Wilson currently leads all Sea Dogs starters in ERA (2.82), WHIP (1.19), strikeouts (72) and innings pitched (79.2). His last start against the Fisher Cats came back on May 25th when he tossed 6 scoreless innings, allowing only 3 hits and 1 walk, but picked up a no-decision. The Fisher Cats are 9-4 against Portland this year; they are 6-7 on Sundays and 12-9 in day games. Portland is 4-6 in Sunday games this season and they are 9-11 in day games. These two teams will meet next at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium for a four game series starting on July 8th.
