Game of the Day – Yankees vs. Lake Monsters – The Vermont Lake Monsters (14-7) are good…the Staten Island Yankees (18-4) are really good! The Lake Monsters halted the SI Yanks 4-game win streak last night with an 8-2 victory at Centennial Field. It was only the second road loss for the Yankees this season and their second loss in their last nineteen games. Evan DeLuca will be the Staten Island starter tonight in his fifth start of the season. In his prior four outings DeLuca has only allowed 2 earned runs and both of those came in the same game against Hudson Valley. His 0.90 ERA is second best in the New York-Penn and he has picked up wins in his last two starts. DeLuca will be opposed by fellow 2-0 hurler J.C. Menna who hasn’t been as dominant as DeLuca, but has been as effective, striking out 16 batters in 14 2/3 innings of work. This will be Menna’s first home start after three outings on the road…Staten Island outfielder Shane Brown leads the NYPL with a .458 batting average… Currently Vermont maintains a four game lead in the Stedler Divison over Lowell. Staten Island has a six game lead over Hudson Valley in the McNamara Division.
