Game of the DayTigers vs. Spinners (x2) - It’s double header day for 3 of the 7 New England squads and we turn our attention to the action in Lowell as Connecticut looks to launch themselves ahead of the Spinners into second place in the Stedler Division. Lowell currently sits a ½ game up on Connecticut as the two teams jockey for position and a .500 record early on in their seasons. Yesterday’s rained out starters Wilsen Palacios and Raynel Velette will kick things off in Game 1 and Brennan Smith and Nefi Ogando are the scheduled starters in the nightcap. Matty Johnson leads the Lowell offense, which has caught fire of late, batting .464 with 5 stolen bases on 5 attempts. The Tigers offense has been lead by Jason King who has team-highs in average (.298), RBI (8) and runs (11). These two games will be the last time these teams see each other until August. So get to LeLacheur Park early, get two games for the price of one, and be sure to stick around between games because things really heat up when a man tries to launch himself out of a cannon and over the outfield wall.

SIDE NOTE: Thomas Saucke will be live blogging from the PawSox-Red Wings doubleheader this evening, so check back in around 4:30pm - 5:00pm for live updates throughout the evening (also follow him @Thomas_Saucke on Twitter).
