Game of the Day – Rock Cats vs. Sea Dogs - Last season the Portland Sea Dogs owned the New Britain Rock Cats, posting up a 19-8 record in their season series. This season however, the lowly Sea Dogs will be happy to finish up their season series against the Rock Cats today as they are 8-15 against New Britain this time around. Eastern League wins leader Stephen Fife gets tasked with trying to eke out one more versus New Britain at Hadlock Field today. Fife, fresh off of his E.L. All-Star appearance, has notched five wins over his last seven starts, with two no decisions coming in games versus New Hampshire. He will be opposed by New Britain’s Bobby Lanigan, whose 100 innings pitched is third most in the E.L. this year. Lanigan boasts a solid 65-27 strikeout-to-walk ratio this season and he is 3-1 against the Sea Dogs this season… Portland’s Chih-Hsien Chiang has 8 multi-hit games over his last 10 and has a batting average of .500 with 10 extra base hits, 12 RBI and 12 runs scored over that span…The Rock Cats have already won three more games this season (47) than they did during their last-place campaign in 2010 when they finished with their worst record in franchise history at 44-98.
